Is online gambling legal in Alberta?
Yes. Alberta became the second Canadian province, after Ontario, to license private online casinos. Since July 13, 2026, operators can offer casino games to Albertans if they:
- register with AGLC, the provincial regulator, which checks the company, its owners and its games, and
- sign a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), which manages the market for the province.
By mid-October 2026, about 50 licensed sites from 29 operating companies were live, competing with Play Alberta, the government site run by AGLC. Operators that did not register had until October 13, 2026 to stop serving Alberta. Every casino on this page is a registered Alberta site.

How Alberta's market compares with Ontario's
Alberta modelled its system on Ontario's, with a few differences that matter to players:
| Alberta | Ontario |
|---|
| Opened | July 13, 2026 | April 4, 2022 |
| Regulator | AGLC | AGCO |
| Market manager | Alberta iGaming Corporation | iGaming Ontario |
| Government site | Play Alberta | PlayOLG |
| Legal age | 18 | 19 |
| Public bonus advertising | Not allowed | Not allowed |
| Help line | 1-866-332-2322 | 1-866-531-2600 |
Many brands now run registered sites in both provinces. An account opened in one province generally cannot be used for real-money play in the other, because each registered site checks your location. Compare with our Ontario online casinos page.
How to check a casino is legal in Alberta
- Look for AGLC registration in the site footer and check the regulator's list of registered operators.
- Expect identity checks at sign-up: registered sites verify your name, age and address before you play.
- Expect location checks: games only load when you are physically in Alberta.
- No public bonus banners: a site promoting large welcome bonuses to Albertans on public pages is a warning sign.
If an offshore casino still accepts Alberta players after October 13, 2026, it is not part of the regulated market and Alberta's complaint routes will not apply. Our legit online casinos guide explains how to check a licence.
Alberta online casino bonuses
Alberta follows Ontario in restricting public advertising of gambling inducements, so we show "Shown after sign-up" instead of bonus amounts on Alberta cards. Registered casinos can present their welcome offer once you have an account and send promotions to players who opt in.
Before you accept any offer, check:
- the wagering multiplier and whether it applies to the bonus only,
- the maximum bet while the bonus is active,
- the expiry and game weighting.
The wagering calculator turns any offer into the total you need to bet. Our casino bonuses lists cover casinos available outside Ontario and Alberta.
Fast payout casinos in Alberta
6 of the 39 Alberta casinos we list state withdrawals within 24 hours; the fastest is Casino Days (within 1 hour (e-wallets, crypto)). Registered sites verify you at sign-up, which removes the most common cause of payout delays. Interac is the standard withdrawal method, and 36 of the Alberta sites we list accept it. Check whether your casino processes withdrawals at weekends.

What happened to offshore casinos in Alberta?
Before July 2026, Albertans could choose between Play Alberta and offshore casinos licensed abroad, mostly in Malta, Curaçao or Kahnawake. With the regulated market open, unregistered operators were required to leave the province by October 13, 2026. Many familiar brands registered and now run an Alberta site with separate terms. If you had an offshore account, withdraw any remaining balance; for the registered version of the same brand you will need a new Alberta account.

Play Alberta vs private Alberta casinos
Play Alberta, run by AGLC, was the only regulated online casino in the province until 2026. It is still a legal option, and some players prefer a government site. The private registered casinos compete on things Play Alberta does not always match:
- Game libraries: many private sites list thousands of slots and large live dealer sections.
- Payment choice: PayPal, iDebit, Instadebit and app-based wallets at some operators.
- Apps and loyalty programmes: most large operators run native apps and VIP schemes.
- Sportsbook in the same account: several brands combine casino and sports betting.
All of them, Play Alberta included, follow the same provincial rules on age, identity checks and responsible gambling tools.
Which Alberta online casino is best for you?
- Fast withdrawals: choose from the sites stating payouts within 24 hours in the table above.
- Slots only: a slots-focused site such as Betty keeps the lobby simple.
- Live dealer and sports: BET99 and bet365 combine a large live casino with a sportsbook.
- Low deposits: check the minimum deposit on each card; several Alberta sites start at C$10.
Whatever you choose, verify your account first and set limits before your first deposit. If two sites look equal, pick the one with the payment method you already use for withdrawals, because the cashier is where most day-to-day friction happens, and check whether the site processes payouts at weekends.
Is Play Alberta legit?
Yes. Play Alberta is the government's online casino, run by AGLC, and it was the only regulated online casino in the province until the private market opened. It remains a legal option alongside the registered private sites, under the same age and responsible gambling rules.
List of legal online casinos in Alberta
The ranking at the top of this page lists the AGLC-registered Alberta casinos we review, from the highest score down. AGLC publishes the official list of registered operators; if a site is not on it, it is not part of Alberta's regulated market. New registrations are still being added after the 2026 launch, so we update this list as brands go live.
