RTP, volatility and max win come from each provider's published figures, with known lower versions noted.
Casinos choose which RTP version to run. Check the game info before you play.
Where the provider offers a demo, we link it so you can try the game for free.
Online roulette is a wheel of numbered pockets; you bet on where the ball will land. The version matters most: European roulette (37 pockets, one zero) has a 2.70% house edge, French roulette with La Partage cuts it to 1.35% on even-money bets, and American roulette (38 pockets with 0 and 00) has 5.26%. You can play RNG roulette from about C$0.10 a spin with free demos, or live roulette, including Lightning Roulette, with a real croupier. In Ontario and Alberta, play for real money at registered sites only.
Every casino on our list offers roulette. These have the widest choice of RNG and live wheels among the 165 we review.
| European | French | American | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pockets | 37 (0–36) | 37 (0–36) | 38 (0, 00, 1–36) |
| House edge | 2.70% | 2.70%, or 1.35% on even-money bets with La Partage | 5.26% |
| RTP | 97.30% | 97.30–98.65% | 94.74% |
| Special rule | None | La Partage / En Prison | Five-number bet (7.89% edge) |
Always choose European or French roulette when you have the option. American roulette pays the same amounts but has an extra pocket that only the house wins on.
Inside bets (on numbers):
| Bet | Covers | Pays |
|---|---|---|

| Column | 12 numbers | 2:1 |

| Odd / even | 18 numbers | 1:1 |
| Low (1–18) / high (19–36) | 18 numbers | 1:1 |
On a European wheel, every bet has the same 2.70% house edge; the zero is what pays for it.
The chance of a single number on a European wheel is 1 in 37 (2.7%). Red or black wins 18 times in 37 (48.6%), because the zero is green. A dozen wins 12 in 37 (32.4%). These odds are the same on every spin: the wheel has no memory.
French roulette uses the European wheel with French-language layouts and, crucially, the La Partage rule: if the ball lands on zero, you get half your even-money bet back. That halves the house edge on red/black, odd/even and high/low to 1.35%, the best odds in roulette. En Prison is a similar rule where your bet stays "in prison" for the next spin instead. French tables also offer call bets on wheel sections: Voisins du Zéro, Tiers du Cylindre and Orphelins.
| System | How it works | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Martingale | Double after each loss | Long losing runs hit your budget or the table limit |
| Reverse Martingale (Paroli) | Double after each win | Gives back winnings on the first loss |
| D'Alembert | Raise by one unit after a loss | Slow but still loses to the house edge |
| Fibonacci | Follow the Fibonacci sequence after losses | Bets grow fast on bad runs |
No system changes the house edge: every spin is independent, and the total expected loss is always 2.70% (European) of what you bet. Systems only change how often you win and how big your losses can get.
At licensed casinos, no. RNG roulette uses a certified random number generator tested by independent labs; live roulette uses a real wheel that is filmed and checked regularly. In Ontario and Alberta, games are certified before they go live. The house edge is the zero, not a hidden mechanism. Avoid unlicensed sites; see our legit online casinos guide.

Yes. In Ontario and Alberta, play at registered sites; elsewhere, provincial sites and licensed offshore casinos offer roulette. See casinos by province.
Most bonuses count roulette at 0–10% toward wagering, and covering both red and black (or most of the table) to clear a bonus is banned. Read the terms; see wagering requirements.
Roulette works well on phones, with zoomed layouts and racetrack views for wheel-section bets. See casino apps.
A C$10 bet on red at a European table wins C$10 (plus your stake back) 18 times in 37 and loses C$10 19 times in 37. Over 37 average spins that is +C$180 and −C$190: a C$10 loss on C$370 wagered, the 2.70% house edge. A C$10 straight-up bet wins C$350 once in 37 spins on average and loses C$10 the other 36 times: +C$350 and −C$360, again C$10. Different bets, same average cost; only the swings differ.
At a French table with La Partage, the even-money example loses only C$5 per C$370 wagered, because half your bet comes back on zero.
Call bets are convenient shortcuts on the racetrack; they carry the same house edge as other bets.
Start on a European or French table with small outside bets, such as red or black, to learn the layout and pace. Set a budget in chips, not dollars, and stop when it is gone.
Read each game's rules for the house edge; the classic European and French tables remain the best value.
Roulette sits in the middle for odds: better than most slots and keno, worse than blackjack with basic strategy or baccarat on banker. Its strengths are simplicity and choice of risk, from even-money bets to single numbers.

French roulette with La Partage (1.35% on even-money bets), then European roulette (2.70%).
The extra double zero raises the house edge to 5.26%.
Yes, at registered Ontario and Alberta sites and at licensed casinos elsewhere.
No, not at licensed casinos; RNG games are certified and live wheels are audited.
No system changes the house edge; they only change how wins and losses are spread.
Often about C$0.10 at RNG and some live tables.
