What is a casino bonus?
A casino bonus is extra money, free spins or money back that an online casino gives you for signing up, depositing or playing regularly. It is not free cash: almost every bonus comes with wagering requirements, a rule that you must bet the bonus a set number of times before any winnings from it can be withdrawn.
Online casino bonuses in Canada fall into five groups:
Welcome bonuses: a match on your first deposit, often with free spins. The most common offer, listed at 132 casinos on this page.
No deposit bonuses: free spins or a small amount of cash for registering, with no payment needed. Rare: 7 offers.
Free spins: spins on a named slot, either on their own or as part of a deposit bonus. 122 offers include spins.
Cashback and rakeback: a share of your losses or bets returned, often as cash. 93 casinos run one.
Reload and VIP bonuses: offers for existing players, from weekly reloads to high roller packages.
Each type has its own page with a full list and the terms that matter for it. Use the bonus type menu above, or jump straight to the no deposit bonus, free spins or welcome bonus lists.

"Bets to clear C$100" is the total you must wager to release C$100 of bonus money. It turns the wagering multiplier into a dollar figure, so you can compare offers directly. When wagering applies to the deposit plus the bonus, we assume a C$100 deposit and a C$100 bonus, which doubles the figure.
How we rank casino bonuses
We do not rank bonuses by size. A C$5,000 package at 45× is worth less to most players than a C$300 bonus at 20×, because the larger one needs far more betting before you see any of it. Every offer here is scored on four things:
Wagering (35%): the multiplier, and whether it applies to the bonus only or to the deposit plus bonus. No wagering scores highest.
Casino safety (30%): the casino's North 5 score, built from its licence, payout terms, withdrawal limits and complaint routes. A great bonus at a casino that does not pay is worthless.
Real value (20%): what the offer is worth after wagering, including spin value and caps on winnings.
Clarity (15%): whether the maximum bet, expiry, game weighting and cashout caps are stated plainly.
All terms come from each casino's published bonus policy, as of the update date shown on this page. Our scoring method explains the casino score in full.
Wagering is the single most important term in any casino bonus. The formula is simple:
Bonus × wagering = total bets needed.
A C$100 bonus at 35× means C$3,500 in bets. If the same 35× applies to deposit plus bonus, a C$100 deposit and C$100 bonus need C$7,000. Of the welcome bonuses we list, 24% apply wagering to the deposit plus the bonus, so always check which one it is. Our wagering calculator does the maths for any offer, including game weighting.
Three more rules decide whether you can clear a bonus:
Game weighting: slots usually count 100%, while blackjack, roulette and live dealer games count 0%–10%. Playing excluded games can void the bonus.
Maximum bet: most casinos cap bets at about C$5 to C$7.50 per spin while a bonus is active. One bet above the cap can cancel your winnings.
Expiry: bonuses usually expire after 7 to 30 days, and free spins after 1 to 7 days.
Players in Ontario and Alberta will not see bonus offers on this page. Both provinces regulate private online casinos, through iGaming Ontario and the AGLC, and both ban public advertising of casino bonuses and other gambling inducements. Registered operators can still give you offers after you sign up, inside your account or by email.
If you live in Ontario or Alberta, choose a casino from the Ontario online casinos or Alberta online casinos lists and check its promotions page once you are registered. In the rest of Canada, the offers listed here are from offshore casinos that accept Canadian players.
Turning down a bonus is often the smart choice. Play without a bonus when:
you want to withdraw quickly, because an active bonus locks your balance until wagering is complete,
you play games that do not count toward wagering, such as live blackjack,
the wagering is 45× or higher, or applies to the deposit plus bonus,
the terms cap winnings from the bonus at a low amount,
you plan to deposit with Skrill or Neteller, which many casinos exclude from bonuses.
You can untick the bonus at the cashier, or ask support to remove it before you play. Casinos with fast payouts are the best choice if speed matters more than extra money.
Are casino bonuses taxed in Canada?
No. Gambling winnings, including winnings from casino bonuses, are not taxed for recreational players in Canada, because the Canada Revenue Agency treats them as windfalls. Professional gamblers who play as a business are the rare exception. See are gambling winnings taxed in Canada for details.
Bonus safety and responsible play
A bonus is a marketing offer designed to keep you playing. Set a deposit limit before you claim one, never deposit more to chase a bonus, and stop when the session budget is gone. Every casino we list offers deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. FAQ
Questions
What is the best casino bonus in Canada?
The best casino bonus is one with low wagering on the bonus only, a fair max bet and a casino that pays quickly. On our list, the lowest wagering welcome offer is 5× at Interwetten, and no wagering offers from PlayOJO, Merlin Casino and Jack Casino pay winnings as cash.
Can I withdraw a casino bonus straight away?
Not usually. You must meet the wagering requirement first. Only no wagering bonuses and wager-free spins pay winnings as cash immediately.
Why don't I see bonuses in Ontario or Alberta?
Provincial rules in Ontario and Alberta ban public advertising of casino bonuses. Registered casinos can show you offers after you sign up.
Do I need a bonus code to claim a casino bonus?
Most welcome bonuses in Canada are applied when you opt in at the cashier, with no code. When an offer needs a code, we list it on the card. See our [casino bonus codes](/bonuses/codes/) page.
Are online casino bonuses worth it?
They are worth it if the wagering is 30× or less, you play slots, and you would deposit anyway. They are not worth it if you want fast withdrawals or play live dealer games.
How many casino bonuses can I claim?
One welcome bonus per casino, per person and per household. You can claim welcome bonuses at different casinos, and reload, cashback and VIP offers as an existing player.
