RTP, volatility and max win come from each provider's published figures, with known lower versions noted.
Casinos choose which RTP version to run. Check the game info before you play.
Where the provider offers a demo, we link it so you can try the game for free.
Live blackjack is blackjack dealt by a real dealer from a physical shoe, streamed to your screen; you make your decisions (hit, stand, double, split) on screen. With basic strategy, standard live blackjack returns about 99.3–99.5%, the best odds in the live casino. Tables come in two main types: classic seven-seat tables, where seats can fill up, and Infinite Blackjack, where any number of players play the same hand. Minimum bets usually start at C$1–C$5 (lower on Infinite tables). Live blackjack is available at registered Ontario and Alberta sites and at offshore casinos.
These casinos have the largest live dealer sections among the 165 we review. See all live dealer casinos.
Cards are read by cameras and optical character recognition, and the shoe is reshuffled according to the provider's procedure, well before the last cards are reached.
| Table | Players | Key rules | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic seven-seat | Up to 7 seated + Bet Behind | Standard rules, 8 decks | Seats can be full |
| Infinite Blackjack | Unlimited | Same hand for everyone, Six Card Charlie | Low minimums |
| Free Bet Blackjack | Unlimited | Free doubles and splits on some hands; dealer 22 pushes | Lower RTP than classic |
| Power Blackjack | Unlimited | Power double and split up to 4x; 9s and 10s removed | Different strategy |
| Lightning Blackjack | Unlimited | Random multipliers on winning hands, fee per bet | Higher volatility |
| VIP / Salon Privé | 7 seated | High limits | Minimums from C$50+ |
Rules vary by table; open the rules panel before you play.
With basic strategy, Evolution's classic live blackjack returns about 99.3%, and Infinite Blackjack about 99.5%. Variants with special rules, such as Free Bet or Power Blackjack, return a little less, roughly 98.4–98.8% with their own optimal strategy. Mistakes cost more than the rules: playing by "feel" instead of basic strategy can add 1–2% to the house edge. Side bets have much lower RTPs.
Basic strategy is a table of the best decision for every combination of your hand and the dealer's up-card. Key rules on standard tables:
See the full chart in our blackjack guide. Card counting is not practical online: shoes are long, shuffled early, and Infinite tables use continuous rules that defeat it.
Side bets are fun but add to the house edge; keep them small.
No. Dealers see the chat window and the table's bets, not players. They cannot see or hear you. Chat is moderated, so be polite; abusive messages lead to chat bans.
At licensed casinos, no. Live blackjack uses physical cards from a shoe, filmed continuously, and studios are audited. In Ontario and Alberta, games are approved for the market before they go live. The house edge comes from the rules, such as the dealer acting last, not from manipulation. Play only at licensed casinos; see our legit online casinos guide.

For practice, play RNG blackjack in demo mode; for the real-table feel, play live.
Registered Ontario and Alberta sites offer certified live blackjack tables, sometimes including Canadian-branded tables. See Ontario online casinos and Alberta online casinos.
Most bonuses count live blackjack at 0–10% toward wagering, or exclude it. Live casino cashback is a better fit for blackjack players. See cashback bonuses.
Live blackjack streams well on phones, with large buttons for hit, stand and double. Use a stable connection: if you disconnect, the default action applies. See casino apps.
Both are fun twists, but classic and Infinite tables return slightly more with correct play.
At a full seven-seat table you can still play through Bet Behind, a wager on one seated player's hand. You win or lose with their decisions, so choose a player who plays sensibly. Bet Behind is a good way to watch a high-limit table at a lower stake, but you have no control over the play.
Quebec players can find French-language live blackjack tables at many casinos; the rules and RTP are the same as English tables. See online casinos in Quebec.
