How to play Chicken Road
- Choose your bet. The minimum and maximum are set by the casino.
- Pick a difficulty level. Higher levels pay bigger multipliers per lane but make each step riskier.
- Press Go to move the chicken one lane forward. If it survives, the multiplier rises.
- Cash out at any point to collect your bet times the current multiplier.
- Keep going for a bigger multiplier, knowing that one hit ends the round and loses the bet.
Unlike Aviator, where the multiplier runs on its own and you race to cash out, Chicken Road moves only when you tell it to. Every step is a separate decision, which makes it feel more controlled, although each step's outcome is random.
Chicken Road RTP and difficulty levels
InOut Games states an RTP of 98% for Chicken Road. The four difficulty levels share that RTP but spread it differently:
- Easy: small steps up in the multiplier, lower risk per lane.
- Medium and Hard: bigger jumps per lane, more chance of being hit.
- Hardcore: very large multipliers and a high risk on every step.
At any level, the expected return per step is the same 98%: the game is not "easier to win" on Easy, only less volatile. The rules screen in the game shows the multipliers for each lane at each level.
Is Chicken Road legit or a scam?
The game itself is a real casino product by InOut Games, offered at licensed casinos. Problems come from the way it is promoted elsewhere:
- "Earning apps" that promise you can make money playing Chicken Road, often promoted on social media, are not licensed casinos. Many do not pay withdrawals.
- "Predictor" bots and Telegram signals that claim to know where the chicken will be hit are scams; outcomes are random.
- Fake demos that let you win every time are designed to lure you into depositing.
Play only the official game at a casino with a licence you can check. In Ontario and Alberta, that means a site registered with iGaming Ontario or the AGLC. See our legit online casinos guide.
Chicken Road strategy: what works
No strategy beats a 98% game in the long run. What you can control:
- Stop early on higher levels. Cashing out after a few lanes wins more rounds, with smaller wins.
- Set a target before the round, for example 2x, and stick to it.
- Fix your bet size. Raising the bet after a loss (Martingale) runs into your budget quickly.
- Use demo mode to learn how the levels feel before playing for money.
What does not work: watching previous rounds for patterns, "lucky" lanes, or bots. Each step is independent.

Chicken Road demo
Many casinos and the provider offer a free Chicken Road demo with play credits. It uses the same rules and multipliers as the real game, so it is a good way to see how often the chicken is hit at each difficulty level. Beware of unofficial "demo" apps that behave differently from the real game.
Chicken Road 2
InOut Games has released Chicken Road 2 with new visuals and changes to the levels and multipliers. Check its own rules and RTP in the game info: sequels do not always keep the original's 98%.

Chicken Road and bonuses
Most casino bonuses exclude crash and instant games like Chicken Road, or count them at a small percentage toward wagering. Playing it with bonus money can void the bonus. Check the terms first; see wagering requirements.
Chicken Road: pros and cons
Pros
- High stated RTP of 98%.
- You control the pace: one step at a time.
- Four difficulty levels for different risk appetites.
Cons
- Fast rounds make it easy to overspend.
- Widely copied by unlicensed apps and scams.
- Usually excluded from bonus wagering.
Chicken Road maths: what each step costs
With a 98% RTP, every decision to move forward has the same expected value: on average you keep 98 cents of every dollar you put at risk. The game pays that out in two ways at once: a higher multiplier if the chicken survives the next lane, and a total loss if it does not. Each extra lane raises both the potential prize and the chance you have already been hit.
That is why "how many lanes should I cross?" has no correct answer. Stopping after one lane on Easy gives you frequent small wins; pushing to the far side on Hardcore gives you rare, very large ones. Both lose about 2% of what you wager over time.
Example Chicken Road session
A player with a C$50 budget bets C$1 per round on Medium and always cashes out after three lanes:
- Most rounds end in a small win of a fraction of the stake, or in a C$1 loss when the chicken is hit early.
- Over a long session, the budget drifts down by about 2% of the total wagered, roughly C$2 per 100 rounds, with ups and downs along the way.
- Moving to Hardcore with the same rule makes losses much more frequent and the occasional win much larger.
Setting the rule in advance, three lanes and out in this example, is what keeps the session under control.
How to recognise the official Chicken Road
- It runs inside a licensed casino's lobby, not in a standalone "earning app".
- The InOut Games name appears in the game's loading screen or rules.
- The rules screen lists the RTP and the multipliers for each difficulty level.
- Deposits and withdrawals go through the casino's normal cashier, with identity checks before payouts.
If an app promises guaranteed profits, asks you to pay to "unlock" withdrawals, or sends you signals, close it.
Chicken Road for crypto players
Chicken Road is popular at crypto casinos, where low minimum bets and fast crypto withdrawals suit short sessions. The same rules apply: check the licence, and remember that crypto prices move while your balance sits in the casino. See crypto casino payments.
Who is Chicken Road for?
Chicken Road suits players who like to decide each step themselves rather than watch a multiplier run, and who are happy with short rounds. If you prefer longer sessions with features, a medium-volatility slot such as Wolf Gold or a hold and win slot will stretch a budget further.
